Determine whether $(6,7)$ is a solution of $2x + 5y= -4$.

QUESTION:
Determine whether $(6,7)$ is a solution of  $2x + 5y= -4$.

SOLUTION ==================
If $(x,y)=(6,7)$ is a solution to the equation $2x+5y=-4$, then when you substitute the values for x and y into the equation, it should be satisfied.

so you must show that LHS = RHS  (left hand side = right hand side)

LHS $= 2x+5y $
      $= 2(6) + 5(7) $
     $= 12 +35 $
   $ = 47 $
but RHS$ = -4$

so LHS is not equal to RHS and so the equation is NOT satisfied.

answer: NO.
